چکیده

The algebraic form of Zolotarev polynomials refraining from their parametric representation is introduced. A recursive algorithm providing the coefficients for a Zolotarev polynomial of an arbitrary order is obtained from a linear differential equation developed for this purpose. The corresponding narrow-band, notch and complementary pair FIR filters are optimal in Chebyshev sense. A recursion giving an explicit access to the impulse response coefficients is also presented. Some design examples are included to demonstrate the efficiency of the presented approach.

Analytical Design of Bandstop Fir Filters for Image Processing

Novel approach in the design of 2−D extremely narrow bandstop FIR filters is presented. The completely analytical design method is based on the 1−D optimal bandstop FIR filters. The 1−D FIR optimal bandstop filters are based on Zolotarev polynomial. Closed form formulas for the design of the filters are presented. One example demonstrates the design procedure. One application of the 2−D narrow ...

Optimization with Positive Trigonometric Polynomials: a Review and New Applications

This paper has a double purpose. Firstly, we review recent results regarding the characterization of positive multivariate trigonometric polynomials as functions of sumof-squares polynomials. Using the linear matrix inequality parameterization of sum-of-squares, we discuss several optimization applications, among which the design of 2D FIR filters with linear or nonlinear phase. Secondly, we pr...

Two Dimensional Linear Phase Multiband Chebyshev FIR Filters

In this paper we discuss a method to design 2 dimensional (2D) FIR filters with the help of Chebyshev polynomials. The polynomial is first converted into a 2D function and later a mapping function is used to design the filters. By the proposed technique one can design filters with various types of passband.

Optimal horizons for a one-parameter family of unbiased FIR filters

In this paper, we find the optimal horizons and sampling intervals, both in the sense of the minimum mean square error (MSE), for a one-parameter family of the discrete-time unbiased finite impulse response (FIR) filters. On a horizon of Nl points in the nearest past, the FIR and the model k-state are represented with the l-degree and m-degree polynomials, respectively. The noisefree state spac...

An Algebraic-Geometric Method for Computing Zolotarev Polynomials

Explicit expressions for Zolotarev polynomials of degree up to four have been known for long time (compare [15, 20]). One approach to compute Zolotarev polynomials is by quantifier elimination with cylindrical algebraic decomposition. In [5] this is used for computing Zolotarev polynomials up to degree 5. Challenged by Collins and Kaltofen [10] this was extended later up to degree 12 in [12]. A...
